Sunday, March 16

Did yoga. Went to Reitch's for dinner with Marc, Rakel and Mike. Had dal, crispy pata, chicken paprika without the paprika, and fruits in ice cream. Found out Mike and I were neighbors and that his family knows my family down south. Watched a couple episodes of Flight of the Conchords. Went home at 2:00 AM.

Monday, March 17

Stayed home, did laundry. The only day this week I didn't go out or was visited by friends.

Tuesday, March 18

Went with Marc to Festival Mall so he could get a pair of nice-looking glasses. I also went to look for a pair of jeans. Neither of us got what we'd intended to get, and instead got shirts, and Marc got pants, which are hard to find in his size in New Zealand. Got home around 8:00 PM.

Wednesday, March 19

Went to Gateway to meet with Selena and Kathy to get a Rivers Cuomo CD and a Sondre Lerche-autographed notebook page for Aldus. Met with Aldus at Coffee Bean two hours after that to hand over the stuff.

Went to Alan's Grill in Cubao X to celebrate Alec's promotion with BeejayHec, Jovan, Nick, and Tobie. Alan's closed early, so we repaired to La Casa Palomo's rooftop for more beer, where Jovan promptly got an allergic reaction to the Japanese tuna Alec's parents had brought back. Was branded Chair Man when Tobie took my shoes and used his belt to tie me to a chair, the bastard. Managed to stand up with a Monoblock belted to my waist. Went home at 2:30 AM.

Thursday, March 20

Hung out with Luna at Yale when she came over to visit us. Had nilaga and strawberries in sugar and condensed milk over fruitcake. Nakakahilo.

Friday, March 21

As expected, Mika and Patton arrived at Yale at 6:00 PM. Had pasta (shamelessly used Rej's crushed tomatoes, smoked bacon ham, mushrooms, and trivelle) and more strawberries in sugar and condensed milk (finished the fruitcake the night before). As not expected, Duds, Ron, Tobie, and Urim showed up. Watched several episode of the Sarah Connor Chronicles. Had longganiza (the Flavor of Oriental!), eggs sunny-side up, and tomato salsa as a midnight snack. Went to bed at 4:00 AM.

Saturday, March 22

Looked forward to seeing the Purplechickens in two gigs, but ended up hearing the last song of their first gig from outside Freedom Bar, and not going to the second gig at all. Which was OK, because Musings of a Cigarette-Smoking Man was there, and I hadn't seen them since August last year. Plus I got a nifty button! Missed Jesus Is Watching the Gig when it relocated, though, as well as the Wuds and Outerhope. :(

Repaired with Aldus, Marco, and Zig back to the Manox pad in Morato, had some rum cokes. Was joined by Jonas (one of Aldus's friends from high school). Went home at 1:00 AM.

Sunday, March 23

Rej, Boks, and Tita Marian came to bring lunch and to drop off my haliparot housemate. And of course, Mika and Patton are still here, so the party hasn't ended.

And there's another party next weekend, too!

Blog EntryAs if I Needed More Girls in my LifeDec 3, '07 12:57 AM
for everyone

After waiting for four years and a day, something's coming. It's got girls with it. Brace yourselves.

After spending the past couple of weeks rushing to finish the company newsletter, I finally had a free day. I could spend the daytime mooching about online, or maybe resuming the yoga I'd neglected for several weeks now. In the evening, I was going to watch Beowulf with Shey, so it was a promising day.

The operative tense being was.

The morning was fine, having been spent corresponding with work and making sure my end of the responsibilities was done. And they were. I figured a light breakfast would do (yoga after a heavy meal is a no-no) before I started twisting into pretzel shapes on the living room floor.

But there was one hitch: the neighbors (a talyer shop, really--a big garage-type space with a corrugated-sheet roof, basically a space cavernous enough to amplify any sounds emanating from therein) had started playing some music at a rather high volume. As of 11:00 AM, it was some champorado-type amalgam of techno-remixed songs, interrupted by repeated chunks of the opening "Hey, hey, hey, hey!" from Simple Minds' Don't you Forget about Me, because apparently its some kind of rallying cry that keeps the party goin', b!tch.

By 2:00 PM, the techno remixes stopped, only to be replaced by Air Supply, with one girl singing along to all the songs.

Oh shut up, all of you.

I'd be exaggerating if I said she sang the band's entire discography. Sorry Aldus, they didn't play Making Love out of Nothing at All. But they played damn near everything else.

And when that was done, the siren next door moved on to singing ABBA. Yes Marco, she sang Mama Mia. Yes Art, she sang Dancing Queen. Too bad you weren't here to dance along, because that would've made up for the neighbors' irrepressibly melodic (and emphatic!) singing.

By 6:00 PM, (aba oo, walang humpay ang mga kapit-bahay!) the selection shifted to country music and Englebert Humperdink. I was going to show the guy singing Lonely Is a Man without Love that Lonelier Is the Man without Balls, but I had just taken a shower and needed to moisturize. My vanity takes precedence over his dismemberment.

They're still moaning out there right now, actually. Pinoys may like videoke, but it doesn't necessarily mean a lot of us are good singers. It's like short people playing basketball for the sheer love of it, I guess. But really, I can only tolerate so many forms of sheer love.

Ambot!

for everyone

change,
everything you are
and everything you were
your number has been called
fights, battles have begun
revenge will surely come
your hard times are ahead

best,
you've got to be the best
you've got to change the world
and you use this chance to be heard
your time is now

I think this needs a little further explanation.

This was playing while I finished the final version of my resignation letter. A flutter of other documents accompanied this:

My birth certificate and affidavits stating my resumption of my father's surname, around two months ago.

My SSS and BIR numbers.

A postal ID.

And starting next week, more documents:

My passport.

Plane tickets.

All these fluttering papers just might fly me to India yet. Wish me luck.

Speaking of Indians, I have cowboys:
